All about Grippy Socks

So besides from being adorable and the perfect addition to any Pilates fit, grippy socks really do serve a purpose! Today I want to outline why grippy socks are essential and the perfect addition to your Pilates routine! Although we don’t require grippy socks (and you could go barefoot), we HIGHLY recommend them! The first reason might be slightly obvious, but a correctly fitting grippy sock will help to prevent any sliding or slipping on the reformer when doing footwork or standing exercises such as skating, lunges with the box, front splits, back splits etc. The second reason I really recommend grippy socks is for sanitary purposes! We do clean and sanitize our reformers after each and every use, but grippy socks create a barrier, AND if you tend to sweat will just keep things cleaner!

So, how do you care for your grippy socks? I figured you might ask! Although you don’t have to take any of my advice, over the years I have learned to care better for my grippy socks and how to get the most life out of them!

  1. Never wear your grippy socks with slides or shoes.

  2. Keep your grippy socks in your car or purse so you don’t forget them.

  3. Put your grippy socks on once you choose your reformer.

  4. NEVER wear them around your home.

  5. I prefer to wash by hand and air dry, I have also washed in a washing machine and air dried.

  6. Wear your socks 3-5x before washing (as long as they don’t get super sweaty). You are only wearing them for 45-50 minutes.
